Salma Hayek got candid about the highs and lows of being a grandmother, following the arrival of her stepson François Pinault Jr.'s baby in 2026.
The 60-year-old spoke on the Today show about the love she feels for her grandson, also named François, who arrived in July. "I love it!... I don't know that it's about being a grandma or just about him; how fantastic he is, and how easy he is, and how special, and how much I connect with him – how much I miss him!" she explained.
© Today/NBCWhen host Laura Jarrett added that a perk of being a grandparent is giving the baby back when they start to cry, Salma revealed that this was actually her least favorite part.
"Unfortunately; don't think I'm happy about that," she replied. "I know that some grandparents say that. I wish I could just keep him in my house."

Salma gave fans a glimpse of the new arrival on Instagram with a photo of her holding baby François as she stared lovingly at him. "We are blessed to welcome the fourth living generation of Francois'. Although I will call him Panchito. He seems to love it, and I cannot love him more," she wrote in the caption.
Being a stepmother
Salma is married to François Jr.'s father, François-Henri Pinault, and is a proud stepmother to the three kids he fathered before tying the knot with her.
He welcomed François-Henri and Mathilde with his first wife, Dorothée Lepère, and his son Augustin Evangelista with supermodel Linda Evangelista in 2006.
© InstagramHe then welcomed his youngest, Valentina, with Salma in 2007. The Mexican actress previously shared with Red magazine that she was grateful to have stepchildren due to her difficulties in getting pregnant.
"I've had that yearning, that longing, and that pain…I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one," she said. "The huge blessing I've had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different."

"I have a daughter who knows she can say anything to me. She doesn't have to hold back or feel like she's going to be judged," the Oscar winner told Elle.

"She steals things from my closet, just as I did with my mom. It's such a lovely passage of age. It doesn't matter how much technology changes; we will always go into our mothers' closets and steal a little something," Salma explained.
