January Jones became one of the most recognizable stars of the noughties thanks to iconic roles such as playing Betty Draper in Mad Men, alongside appearances in movies such as Love Actually and X Men: First Class.
However, the 48-year-old hasn't had as many big roles since the iconic TV series ended in 2015, and has mostly stayed away from Hollywood. Let's find out what January is up to now and what she has lined up…

January has previously candidly revealed that she never set out to be an actor, which may explain why she hasn't starred in as many movies in recent years. "I wanted to be a meteorologist. I wanted to be a marine biologist," she previously told Vanity Fair.
However, after being scouted as a model and moving to New York, she was told that she could make a promising actress. "At that time, if someone said, you can’t do something, that’s what I wanted to do. But then I realized that I sort of had a knack for acting and I had a commercial out in L.A. And I was sort of put in a path very luckily with some great great people who put me in the right places with very reputable companies…" she disclosed.

Following her iconic role as Betty Draper in Mad Men between 2007 and 2015, January moved straight into another hit TV series. She starred as Melissa in The Last Man on Earth until 2018, and also played Carol Baker in the Netflix series Spinning Out.
January's last acting credit was in 2023, but she is expected to appear in the upcoming horror movie Altar, alongside former Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan.

January is a single mom to son Xander, 15, and has never disclosed who his father is. In a candid interview with Red magazine about her motherhood journey, the Golden Globe nominee revealed it's only been her and Xander from the beginning, including during his birth.
"My younger sisters [Jacey and Jina] and my mum and my doula were in the room. My brother-in-law and my dad were next door. I only wanted women with me," she told the publication. "Female energy," she added.
Making a foray into fashion
The actress has long been known for her sense of style, and in February 2026 she teamed up with a small business called The Knotty Ones to release a limited edition cardigan, which she modelled for her one million followers on Instagram.
"I wanted something that lives with you," January said. "A sweater you throw on, love deeply, and keep for years."

Despite largely stepping back from acting, January continues to share glimpses into her life on social media. Recent posts include sharing the skincare products and books she has recently enjoyed, and a throwback photo from 1998, which she captioned: "1998? Gimme back those baby cheeks!"
Her Mad Men co-star Christina Hendricks was quick to comment: "Think we met a year later."
