Carole King wrote the iconic theme song for a show best known for the iconic mother-daughter relationship it portrays, Gilmore Girls, and she is a doting mother herself.
Though "Where You Lead" was originally written in 1970 with Toni Stern as a love song, it was rewritten for the hit Amy Sherman-Palladino series in 2000 with a daughter and mother in mind, and the "It's Too Late" singer recorded it with her real-life daughter Louise Goffin.
Louise is Carole's first of her four children. She has been married four times; to Gerry Goffin, when she was 17, from 1959 to 1968, to Charles Larkey, from 1970 to 1976, Rick Evers, from 1977 until his death in 1878 days after their separation, and Rick Sorenson, from 1982 to 1989.
Read all about her children below.
Louise Goffin, 66
Louise was born out of Carole's marriage to Gerry, when Carole was 18 years old. She was 14 years old when she began lending her vocals for some of her mom's songs, from which blossomed a long career in music.
She has also worked as a producer, as well as a music teacher for teen girls from disadvantaged backgrounds in partnership with the charitable organization WriteGirl. She was previously married to Greg Wells, with whom she shares two children, sons Elijah and Hayden Wells.
Sherry Goffin, 64
Carole's second child with her first husband has also worked as a singer and producer, though she lives a largely private life. She shares two children with ex-husband Robbie Kondon, son Dillon and daughter Sophie. The former couple divorced in 2011 after 27 years of marriage, and he passed away in December 2025.
Molly Larkey, 54
Molly, Carole's first child with her second husband, is an artist, sculptor, and writer, known for creating large-scale geometric sculptures and mixed-media installations, whose work has been featured in MoMA PS1 as well as The Saatchi Gallery. Little is known about her personal life, and there is no public information indicating she has been married or welcomed children.
Levi Larkey, 52
Levi is the most private of Carole's children. Little is known about his career, though he is credited as a boom operator in a 2007 movie titled 44, per his IMDb. Seemingly based in Idaho, where his mother now lives, some reports indicate he has a daughter, Ocean Larkey.
