Kelly Clarkson's weekend shopping trip has turned into a very public disagreement, and the singer is standing firmly by her version of events.
The 44-year-old issued a fresh response on Sunday 11 October after Brooklyn shop Art of Play challenged her account of an encounter she had compared to Julia Roberts' famous shopping scene in Pretty Woman.
Writing on Instagram Stories, Kelly accused the person involved of being dishonest: "So you're not only rude, you're also a liar. Got it."

The disagreement began on Saturday, when Kelly told her followers on X that she had travelled to Brooklyn specifically to visit the shop.
She explained that she had already spotted things she wanted to buy, but claimed the interaction left her feeling judged over whether she could afford them.
Kelly said she was offered an alternative item, which she interpreted as a dismissive response rather than helpful shopping advice. Her disappointment quickly became frustration. "Wow, dude. You're an idiot and just lost a huge sale," she wrote.
Her comparison was to the memorable sequence in the 1990 romantic comedy in which Julia Roberts' character, Vivian Ward, is turned away by boutique staff before returning with bags of purchases from other shops.
Kelly's post brought attention to a business specialising in rather different treasures: puzzles, games, toys and unusual objects for the home.
Art of Play responds to Kelly Clarkson's claims
Art of Play offered its own explanation on Sunday, saying Kelly had asked about a mechanical singing and dancing bird named Molly.
According to the business, the bird is part of its magic performances rather than merchandise available for customers to purchase. "Molly is permanently attached to the wall and isn't for sale," the shop stated.
The business also said visitors were welcome whether they intended to buy something or simply explore. It described its approach as encouraging customers to handle and enjoy the puzzles and games on display.
Addressing the online reaction, the shop said the attention following Kelly's post had been overwhelming and thanked its supporters. It also expressed hope that it could resolve the disagreement with her.
Located on Atlantic Avenue near Brooklyn Bridge Park, Art of Play combines its shop with a 26-seat theatre dedicated to close-up magic performances, according to its website.

Kelly subsequently disputed the suggestion that the bird was unavailable, claiming she had seen a price tag and been told it cost $15,000.
She also shared a grainy photograph that she presented as supporting her account. The image does not independently establish what was said during the conversation.
Kelly maintained that she supports small businesses, but argued that this did not excuse the treatment she described. "It's not that hard to be kind."
