Jalen Hurts' NFL season is done.

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was placed on injured reserve after being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his calf, though at the time, he was only sidelined for at least a week.

Doctors have since discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs, effectively ending his season six weeks into it.

Jalen will undergo treatment for the blood clots that will take at least three months, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"Over the last few days, Jalen Hurts has received comprehensive medical evaluations by physician experts. In the interest of transparency, we are providing additional information on the diagnosis and treatment plan related to his condition," a statement from Jalen's agent Nicole Lynn read.

"Jalen was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis. After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli," she continued.

Nicole maintained that he is "clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations," and his treatment would only involve blood thinners for the time being, however during this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football.

"Jalen's prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery," the statement emphasized.

"We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects," she added. "We are thinking of Jalen and looking forward to a strong recovery."

Fans were quick to extend their support for the athlete on social media, with one writing: "Prayers up to my dawg Jalen," as others followed suit with: "Praying so hard for him," as well as: "Prayers up!!! Get well soon Jalen."

According to ESPN, while the Eagles have been exploring every option to address Jalen's absence, they were waiting until after consulting with medical experts to make any roster decisions.

On Sunday, the Eagles played against the Carolina Panthers, with Tanner McKee subbing in as quarterback in place of Jalen. The Panthers won, 25-14. Rookie Cole Payton was promoted to backup, and the team also signed quarterback Joe Milton off Dallas' practice squad, though per NFL rules, Joe must be on the Eagles' roster for three weeks.

The Eagles have had a rough start to the season between injuries and offensively, with running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver DeVonta Smith dealing with a series of hamstring injuries. They also saw the retirement of future Hall of Fame offensive tackle Lane Johnson and the trade of Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens.
