Sheinelle Jones revealed how being absent from the Today set affected her in a new confession

The TV star recently visited Ireland with her co-hosts, and the experience of stepping away from the daytime show brought the team even closer, and helped Sheinelle grow on a personal and professional level.

She shared with People: "Traveling is when you get to know people in a different way, and I think when you go back into the workplace, it makes you better. The whole team, we all felt that way."

The feeling was mutual for her Today with Jenna and Sheinelle co-host Jenna Bush Hager, as she shared: "Sheinelle has the wonder of a child. I think [it's] that type of wonder when you're traveling with somebody to a different country that you've never been to. [She's] somebody that sees that beauty in every single thing and takes a picture."

The duo are booked and busy, being that right after returning from their overseas trip, they headed to upstate New York to host their Girls Getaway event last weekend.

Sheinelle loves the personal touch of meeting Today viewers face-to-face, and it's refreshing for the star, who doesn't experience a live audience on the duo's set.

She expressed: "I think for me, when we sit down on the set, we have an intention to try to connect with people, whether it's laughing or sometimes crying or everything in between. And last night [at the Girls Getaway event], it was affirming to me that it is landing."

It's through traveling that the host sees just how much the popular show resonates with people on a larger scale, both domestically and internationally.

Sheinelle explained: "These women have come from all corners of the country — and Canada — and they're really coming with one goal, and that's just a fellowship [with each other]."

That's exactly the kind of empowering sisterhood that makes Sheinelle and Jenna's bond so strong, both as co-hosts and as close friends outside of work.

The star gushed: "I really like Jenna. I mean, I've always liked Jenna. I've always thought she was cool, but her vibration? I'm not a woo-woo person, but I just think she's a cool chick, and she's fun and she's smart and she's witty and I like being around her

In fact, the mother-of-three revealed that she showcases the pair's friendship as a model for her kids.

She revealed: "I always tell [my daughter] Clara, 'When you hang around girls, you want to be with girls who lift you up and elevate your conversation and just make you feel better when you leave,' and Jenna does that for me."
