Rachael Ray made a new appearance in an online cooking video - sharing her true thoughts on a subject close to her heart.
The celebrity chef featured in a clip posted on her cooking channel on Instagram, Free Food Studios, appearing from her kitchen at her stunning home in Italy.
In the video, she gave her opinion on the concept of measuring - something she doesn't believe in. "I don't like measuring, I find it jams a cook up," she explained.
"You have to measure when you bake. My sister - god bless her - she could measure all day; it makes her happy, she likes all the little dishes every time she measures something. I like fewer dishes, a little more loosey goosey shall we say, especially when it comes to simple food like just getting dinner on the table or comfort food."
Alongside the video, the caption read: "Measuring cups? Rachael Ray has some thoughts. When it comes to cooking, sometimes you just have to trust your gut (and your taste buds)! Are you team measure everything or team eyeball it?"
Many of Rachael's followers responded to the clip, with the majority agreeing with the star. "Trust yourself and be creative. I don’t measure when I cook either," while another wrote: "I don’t like measuring either, it’s too restrictive." A third added: "I hate measuring too!"
Rachael Ray's life away from the spotlight
The star, 58, has been enjoying a slower pace of life in Italy after her daytime programme ended its 17-season run in May 2023. She launched Free Food Studios with a focus on food programming and developing other culinary talent.
Her subsequent work has included Rachael Ray in Tuscany, bringing her love of Italian food and life to the screen. Announcing her next chapter in 2023, she said: "I am truly excited to be able to introduce and develop new and upcoming epicurean talent on all platforms."
While she still makes the occasional public appearance at food related events, Rachael has preferred to keep a lower profile over the past few years, particularly following a series of bad events in her personal life, including "a couple of bad falls" outside her New York home in 2024, her mother's death and several tragedies involving her properties.
The star, who is married to entertainment lawyer and musician John M. Cusimano, watched her home in Lake Luzerne, New York, burn down in 2020 after a fire broke out in the roof.
Only a year later, their New York City apartment flooded after Hurricane Ida swept through, leaving tens of thousands of dollars' worth of damage behind.
Rachael now prefers to be in Italy - the very place she got married back in 2005. "I prefer to be in Italy because it's quiet, and the dog hates New York," she told People.
