Are Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black making a Twilight comeback? While no word yet on Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner's involvement, it seems a reboot of the epic vampire saga is in the works.

The Hollywood Reporter, among other outlets, have reported that instead of another movie, a Twilight TV show is in early development stages at Lionsgate.

The Twilight saga is based on Stephanie Meyer's wildly successful vampire books, the first of which was published in 2005. The first four were eventually adapted into their even more successful big screen counterparts, Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, and Breaking Dawn Part II.

According to THR, Sinead Daly, whose credits include Tell Me Lies, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Raised by Wolves and more, is attached to the script.

However, the project is still in its earliest days. It is uncertain whether fans will eventually see a remake of the books, or a different angle to the beloved saga, which had the world divided for years into Team Edward and Team Jacob.

Further, while Lionsgate owns the rights to the franchise, the potential television series has not yet been placed with any network or streaming platform, and a timeline for acquiring the show and its production remains unclear.

Nonetheless, the brains behind the books, Meyer, will reportedly be involved in the television adaptation. During the four year spans of the four movies' releases, from 2008 to 2012, the franchise collectively grossed more than $3.4 billion worldwide.

A reboot or spin-off for Twilight would join the ranks of many shows beloved by millennials and Gen-z'ers getting the same treatment.

Gossip Girl, which was on air from 2007 to 2012, got a Gen-Z-fied reboot at HBO Max (Max?) in 2021, though it was canceled after two seasons. Sex and the City, also an HBO hit, on air from 1998 to 2004, not only got two movie sequels but also a reboot-sequel with three fourths of the original cast, And Just Like That, which is gearing up to release its second season.

Most recently, arguably the biggest book-to-movie adaptation of the 2000s, the Harry Potter franchise, also got the reboot treatment, with HBO Max confirming an upcoming television-adaptation as well. Plus, Chuck Lorre's Big Bang Theory is getting a spin-off, and he recently reteamed with his Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen for yet another "Max" comedy.
