Norway's Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit have concluded their colourful trip to Thailand. But before heading to the airport to catch their plane home, the royal visitors were presented with some traditional gifts as a souvenir of their four-day stay.

The royal couple have had a busy schedule during their time in the Asian country. The crown prince was particularly interested in the development projects being carried out by Thailand’s King Bhumibol in an effort to raise living standards among his country’s poorest communities.

Meanwhile Mette-Marit did her bit for Norwegian-Thai relations by opening an exhibition of Norwegian design in the capital. "It gives me great pleasure to be able to introduce this here in Thailand, because you are known for your beauty and design and artwork," she said.

During their trip the pair also explored the ancient city of Ayutthayam and enjoyed an evening in the spectacular Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin.
