Villagers in the Cotswold town of Tetbury boast some very regal neighbours in the residents of Prince Charles' nearby Highrove Estate, but rarely get the chance for a neighbourly chat. So it was no surprise to see an enthusiastic crowd turn out to see the Duchess of Cornwall turn on the community's Christmas lights.
After flicking the switch to illuminate the festive display, Camilla enjoyed a one-hour tour of the town during which she met a jolly Father Christmas and local residents. Three-year-old Lila White presented the royal guest with a posy of roses before asking if her step-son Prince Harry could come to her house for tea. "I'll pass on the message. I will ask him for you," Camilla promised.
The Duchess, who was wrapped up warm in a long green coat, also spent time chatting with the town's Women's Institute group, who earlier this year made her an honourary member, and took home a couple of homemade mince pies to enjoy later. Camilla came across a familiar face when she popped into the local bookstore. Her son Tom Parker Bowles was signing copies of his food book The Year Of Eating Dangerously.
