And the British royal family certainly hasn't disappointed us in this regard over the past century – from the embroidered gown worn by the Queen (and famously purchased using ration tokens) for her marriage to Prince Philip, to Meghan Markle's stunning Givenchy-designed couture gown earlier this year. Royal wedding dresses frequently set trends for years to come and are recognised as important cultural artefacts.
