Tess Daly marked her 54th birthday in the most special way, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the Strictly Come Dancing host - who recently released her wellness book – shared a series of snapshots from home, showing the gifts and cards she received.

Celebrating with her husband Vernon Kay and their two teenage daughters, the TV star gushed: "Thank you for all of my lovely birthday wishes. I've been waiting for the girls to get back from school to celebrate, so now it’s time for cake." 

Celebrity friends and fans of the star commented on the heartwarming post, with Shirley Ballas writing: "@tessdaly daily happy birthday. I just read your book. It's as fabulous as you." Fleur East added: "Hope you had a lovely birthday!" 

A third post read: "Happy birthday. We are birthday twins! Hope you are having a lovely day." A fourth person stated: "Happy Birthday beautiful lady! Enjoy your cake."

Tess Daly reveals the secret to her happy marriage to Vernon Kay

Tess and Vernon are doting parents to their daughters, 18-year-old Phoebe and 13-year-old Amber. It's an exciting time for the couple; Vernon is set to start his new role on BBC Radio 2 in May, while Tess has finally released her book, 4 Steps to a Healthier, Happier You.

The synopsis for the book reads: "Eat. Breathe. Move. Sleep. Tess Daly shares top tips and the 4 simple steps she uses to keep well, active and calm in her must-read new lifestyle and wellness guide."

 Upon announcing her book, Tess explained: "This book has been a labour of love and what's inside is a lifetime's love for wellness. Can't wait for you to read it, try some of the recipes and hopefully gain that little something that helps you feel healthier or happier. It’s all about simple habits that have the power to transform how you feel from the inside, out."
