It was a glamorous night for Charlotte Riley on Wednesday evening, as the British actress stepped out for the Masters of the Universe UK premiere in Leicester Square, London.
The 44-year-old, who married Tom Hardy, 48, in 2014 and shares two children with the actor, looked elegant in an all-black ensemble comprising a silk skirt and a velvet blazer-style jacket fastened with silver buttons. She completed the look with a sleek slicked-back bun and matching silver jewellery.
Based on the Masters of the Universe media franchise by Mattel, the film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, while Charlotte takes on the role of his on-screen mother, Queen Marlena. Other cast members include Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Kristen Wiig and Idris Elba.
Charlotte opted to attend the red carpet solo, and her appearance comes amid reports that her husband, Tom Hardy, may be exiting Paramount+ series MobLand following alleged clashes with producers.
Writing in the Puck newsletter, Matthew Belloni, The Hollywood Reporter's former Editorial Director, wrote: "I'm told Paramount recently opted not to pick up Hardy for season three after his clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during the recent production of season two."
Charlotte and Tom's family life
Charlotte and Tom first met on the set of ITV's Wuthering Heights in 2009, where they played iconic literary duo Cathy and Heathcliff. They married in 2014 in an intimate ceremony reportedly held at the 18th-century French château, Château de Roussan, before welcoming two children together.
In an interview with The Times in March, Charlotte recalled the moment she met her "cheeky-chappy" husband, confessing: "He made me a really decent cup of tea. Strong. There's not much point if the spoon doesn't stand up."
What is Masters of the Universe about?
Charlotte's latest film is set to delight superhero fans, bringing the legendary franchise back to the big screen in an epic live-action adventure.
Directed by Travis Knight, the synopsis reads: "After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor.
"To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and embrace his true destiny as He-Man – the most powerful man in the universe."
