Tom Hardy has reportedly been fired from Paramount+ series MobLand following clashes with producers, it has been reported in a new newsletter.

The series follows Tom as Harry Da Souza, a criminal fixer for the Harrigan family, which is helmed by Conrad and Maeve, respectively played by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.

Writing in the Puck newsletter, Matthew Belloni, the Hollywood Reporter's former Editorial Director, said: "I'm told Paramount recently opted not to pick up Hardy for season three after his clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during the recent production of season two."

It's unclear at this moment how this might play out on screen. The show hasn't yet aired a second season, meaning Tom's character could easily be written out.

The Venom actor reportedly sought to take a sabbatical last month after wrapping filming of the series. Speaking to Esquire about the toll that his action roles take on his body, he explained: "I've had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back. I’ve got sciatica as well. And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis?

"Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It's all falling to bits now, and it's not going to get better."

The actor has previously clashed with his co-stars on-set, famously with Charlize Theron as they filmed Mad Max: Fury Road. Tom was reportedly late several times, resulting in shouting matches between the pair.

Reflecting on his past behaviour, Tom previously admitted to New York Times columnist Kyle Buchanan: "In hindsight, I was in over my head in many ways. The pressure on both of us was overwhelming at times.

"What she needed was a better, perhaps more experienced partner in me. That's something that can’t be faked. I'd like to think that now that I'm older and uglier, I could rise to that occasion."

What is MobLand about?

The series, which is written by creator Ronan Bennett (Top Boy) and Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari), is a story about two mob families who "clash in a war that threatens to topple empires and lives", according to the synopsis.

It continues: "Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Souza, the street-smart 'fixer' as dangerous as he is handsome, who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide."

Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren star in the series, alongside Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey), Paddy Considine (House Of The Dragon), Lara Pulver (Da Vinci's Demons), Anson Boon (Pistol) and Mandeep Dhillon (CSI: Vegas).

Filming on the show's second season started back in October, with Joanne telling MovieWeb: "[We] Start shooting [Season 2] towards the end of October... So a few weeks? I'm so looking forward to going back to film Season Two of MobLand.

"I loved, loved, loved it. I mean, it was such a great script and such a great character. Just [an] incredible cast. Yeah, I feel really, really blessed. I love playing Jan. I always wanted to play a gangster's wife or a gangster, and then she came my way."
