The Rest is Football has been capitalising on the World Cup, with the visual podcast, hosted by Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards topping Netflix's viewing charts.
With all three hosts having played as professional footballers and serving as pundits, including stints on the BBC's flagship football show, Match of the Day, they're the perfect stars to steer fans through the ups and downs of the tournament.
Alan had an incredible sporting career, currently holding the record for most Premier League goals scored in history, and was among the first inductees into the Premier League Hall of Fame back in 2021.
Alongside his local career, which saw him playing for Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, he also played for the national team, being capped 63 times, and scoring a total of 30 goals in major tournaments.
During his time with Southampton, the star met his wife, Lainya, with the couple marrying in 1991. They have since welcomed three children, two daughters and one son, and when he retired from sport in 2006, his family all joined him on the pitch for a lap of honour.
Meet the star's family below…
Chloe Shearer
Alan's eldest daughter is Chloe, and she works in talent management for brands including Soccer Aid and Footwork, a sports management and marketing agency.
She keeps much of her personal life out of the spotlight, but the 32-year-old is now happily engaged to England rugby player Micky Young. Micky popped the question in November 2025, and Chloe immortalised the moment on her social media with a carousel showing off her beautiful reaction as her partner got down on one knee.
Highlighting her future last name, she wrote: "Forever young," in the caption, alongside a wedding ring and a white heart emoji. Alan was one proud dad when the news broke, simply saying: "About time too!"
Holly Shearer
Alan's youngest daughter, Hollie, is making a name for herself, with the 30-year-old becoming a professional singer. The star has performed beautiful cover versions of the likes of Leave Right Now and Love You Better.
Like her older sister, Hollie has also found love with a rugby star, Joe Marchant. The England player proposed to the singer in November 2024, with the sportsman choosing Paris as the backdrop for his romantic proposal.
Sharing a photo of the diamond ring in front of the Eiffel Tower, Hollie enthused: "BEST DAY EVER!! Got to say yes to my favourite person." Alan was among the first to respond, sharing several joyful emojis in the comments.
Will Shearer
Alan's only son, Will, often keeps out of the spotlight, but he once considered following in his father's sporting footsteps, albeit by pursuing rugby instead of football.
Back in 2018, the legendary footballer said of his son: "He does play football, but it is rugby he really likes. There are plenty of other kids like him in Newcastle who would rather do something else than go to St James' Park."
