Samantha Morton is just one of the many Hollywood heavyweights starring in Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of The Odyssey. A reimagining of Homer's ancient Greek poem, the film follows Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, on his long and dangerous journey home after the Trojan War to rescue his wife and son.
The 49-year-old actress plays Circe, a witch and goddess, alongside the likes of Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Samantha has three children. She shares her eldest daughter, Esmé Creed-Miles (born in 2000), with actor Charlie Creed-Miles, and two children – a daughter, Edie (born in 2008), and a son, Theodore (born in 2012) – with her husband, filmmaker Harry Holm.

Following in her parents' footsteps, Samantha's daughter Esmé Creed-Miles has established her own presence within the industry.
The 26-year-old, who hails from London, boasts an impressive list of acting credits on her CV.
Her introduction to the screen came in 2007, when she starred alongside her mother in the comedy-drama film, Mister Lonely. She later appeared in the 2017 film Dark River, alongside Ruth Wilson, Mark Stanley and Sean Bean, and in 2018's Pond Life, with Angus Imrie and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
© ED MILLER/NETFLIXShe landed her breakthrough role by playing the lead in the Amazon Prime action-thriller series Hanna, which led to a string of film and TV roles, including the period thriller series, The Doll Factory, Netflix's fantasy series The Sandman, and the 2025 psychological drama film, The Chronology of Water.
Esmé is now poised to play Marianne Dashwood in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, a role that reunites her with her former Pond Life co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays Elinor Dashwood.

She's also been cast in the gothic supernatural thriller, Flesh of the Gods, which also stars Wagner Moura and Kristen Stewart.
Esmé's music career
As well as a blossoming acting career, Esmé is one half of the alt-rock group, Cusk, with Evie Hilyer-Ziegler. The pair released their first single, Blu Tac Piano, in April this year, with their EP, Cusk, arriving on 27 August.
Esmé and Evie first met at an improvisation night at the Shacklewell Arms in East London. They played their first show in April of 2024 at the Windmill in Brixton and have since gone on to support acts including DIIV, Geordie Greep and Tiberius B.
