It's been a big year for Luke Wilson. Not only is he starring in the new Netflix comedy, The Hawk – which is currently storming the streaming giant's Top Ten chart – but he also became a father for the first time.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the 54-year-old actor and his long-time girlfriend, Kendall Yates, 24, had become parents.
While Luke is a familiar presence on our screens thanks to iconic roles in Legally Blonde and The Royal Tenenbaums, he likes to keep his private life out of the spotlight. Keep reading to find out all we know about the actor's life off-screen.
Who is Luke Wilson's girlfriend?
Luke is in a relationship with Kendall Yates.
The couple has largely kept their relationship out of the limelight. They were first pictured together in January 2023 while taking a walk on the beach with Luke's dog.
Since then, they have made few public appearances together. They made their first joint appearance in June 2024 for the premiere afterparty for Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, in which Luke stars.
Luke Wilson's newborn daughter
On 8 July, it was reported that Luke and Kendall had welcomed their first child together.
The couple brought their newborn daughter to a press reception for The Hawk at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California.
At the Netflix show's premiere, Luke gave an insight into life as a first-time dad.
"I'm doing pretty well," he told E! News. "It's nice to be out before I go back to work on my shift," he joked, adding: "I'm very happy about it."
He later told PEOPLE: "I'm just very proud to be a new dad, and just taking it day by day."
The Scream 2 actor previously shared his dreams of fatherhood in a 2007 interview with PEOPLE. "I don't have a girlfriend, but I wouldn't mind one," he said, adding: "I definitely want [kids] at some point."
Luke's life off-screen
Luke, who lives in Santa Monica, has had plenty of time to hone his parenting skills by spending quality time with his nephews and nieces. The actor is a proud uncle to the three children of his brother Owen Wilson – Robert, Finn and Lyla – as well as to Joey, the son of his other brother, Andrew Wilson.
"I think I am a fun uncle," he previously told Conan O'Brien. "I get along great with [their kids]; they are really fun kids. I mean, during this pandemic, I did have a Shining-type moment with Owen's son Ford, where I was saying, 'You know I love you, Don't you, Ford? You're a good boy.'"
He continued: "I get along great with those guys, they're great little kids and definitely the kind that make me want to have some kids of my own, which I should get on sooner rather than later."
