Luke Wilson is officially a father for the first time, after welcoming a baby with his long-term girlfriend, Kendall Yates. The 54-year-old was spotted at the press reception for his upcoming Netflix series, The Hawk, alongside Kendall, 24, and a baby carrier.
According to reports, Luke and Kendall introduced their new baby to some of his castmates, and exited the event after two hours. The couple, who have been dating for at least three years, never confirmed Kendall's pregnancy, yet were seen walking together in April as she hid her growing baby bump under an oversized shirt.
Luke and Kendall are incredibly private and have made only one public appearance together since their romance began – at the Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 screening in Los Angeles in June 2024.
The Legally Blonde actor previously shared with Hollywood Life that his dreams of fatherhood had only strengthened as he aged.
"I definitely want to start a family. I love my niece and my nephews. And I know how much my dad loved being a father; that was one of the things that made him the most happy, so yeah, I'm 47, I'm ready for that. I need to get to work," he declared.
He later told People that his 50s had brought along a midlife crisis to grapple with. "Thirty didn't matter to me. Forty didn't matter to me," Luke said. "I just steamrolled right through it, but 50 – I don't know if it's getting to me because I am sore when I wake up in the middle of the night, and I am forgetting the names of people I know."
"It's definitely one of those things that has had me thinking, oh, okay. So this is where the phrase midlife crisis comes from. I'm definitely starting to feel panicky about some stuff," he added.
Luke has honed his parenting skills on his nieces and nephews, including his brother Owen Wilson's three kids, Robert, Finn and Lyla, and his other brother Andrew Wilson's son Joey.
"I think I am a fun uncle," he told Conan O'Brien. "I get along great with [their kids]; they are really fun kids. I mean, during this pandemic, I did have a Shining-type moment with Owen's son Ford, where I was saying, 'You know I love you, Don't you, Ford? You're a good boy.'"
He continued: "I get along great with those guys, they're great little kids and definitely the kind that make me want to have some kids of my own, which I should get on sooner rather than later." Luke added that he didn't want to wait too long to have children as he might not be able to keep up with his little ones.
"I mean, Anthony Quinn, he had a child when he was 80," he explained. "I just don't want to be one of those dads that has to pay somebody in the neighborhood to throw the football with his kid [when] he can't. I feel like I see here and there in LA."
