Jared Leto has been accused of criminal sexual conduct by four women, who allege the offences took place when they were teenagers.
The Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman is the subject of a new BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, in which ten women spoke out.
One woman claimed she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another said the actor threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19, while a third alleges that she had underage sex with Jared when she was 17 – which in California would be classed as statutory rape.
A fourth woman claimed she was groomed by Jared, who allegedly made repeated sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16.
Four more women also claimed they received very sexual phone calls from Jared when they were younger.
All of the women alleged that they encountered Jared between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. He is now 54.
"This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it," one of the alleged victims told the BBC, which has corroborated a number of the women's accounts with friends and family who were told about the encounters at the time.
Two men who worked with Jared's band Thirty Seconds to Mars said they felt uncomfortable about the way Jared would interact with teenage girls.
"I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big," one said.
This isn't the first time Jared has faced accusations of sexual misconduct. Last year, allegations emerged when a Los Angeles DJ named Allie Teilz said she had been assaulted by the actor when she was 17, prompting several other women to make similar claims.
Nine women also accused Leto of sexual impropriety last year. He denied all the allegations.
