Four months after welcoming her first child, Lisa Kudrow won her first Emmy in September 1998 for her supporting role in Friends. Nearly three decades later, in a full-circle moment, Lisa's now 28-year-old son looked all grown up as he joined his mother on the Primetime Emmys red carpet for an ultra-rare joint public outing.

Lisa looked effortlessly elegant for the star-studded awards show on 14 September in a black floor-length Celine gown with a matching bolero jacket. While posing for pictures on the red carpet, the 63-year-old held hands with her son Julian Stern, who was her special plus one for the night.

Julian looked smart in a black suit and tie as he joined Hollywood's biggest names at the Peacock Theater. Julian, born in May 1998, is Lisa's only child, whom she shares with her husband Michel Stern.

Julian has followed in his mother's footsteps

Just like his famous mother, Julian has taken up acting. After studying film and TV production at the University of Southern California, he's gone on to appear in the series That's Hollywood, Baby and was in a short film last year called Big City Boy.

Julian even shared the screen with Lisa in season three of The Comeback. Julian played a small role in the recent season as AI trainer Evan, while Lisa reprised her role as Valerie Cherish, an actress fighting tooth and nail to keep her career alive.

Sharing the screen

Reflecting on his experience working on set with his mother for The Comeback, Julian told Deadline: "I was really nervous going in, cause I’ve never worked with my mom professionally like that before.'

"And to be on camera with her, it’s like, 'Oh God, am I gonna mess this up because I’m only gonna be able to see my mom?' But my mom, she’s a great actress," he added.

"And when I’m talking with my mom, I’m talking with my mom. When I’m talking with Valerie Cherish, different person, and it was really easy to slip into just, 'Oh yeah, this is a different person, this is a complete stranger.'"
