He's famous for being Ian Fleming's martini-swirling heartthrob spy, but Daniel Craig is adding a surprising new title to his CV: landlord.
The 007 star has decided to team up with Soho House founder Nick Jones, Flat Iron creator Charlie Carroll, and Justin O'Shea, the creative director of Craig's lager brand Bad Belze and has bought a 250-year-old pub.
The public house in question is Clerkenwell haunt, The Horseshoe, which dates back to 1748 and is said to be "haunted by a hangman", according to reports.
Of the pub's ghostly presence, Daniel joked to the Times: I don't know what he drinks, but we might have to leave a pint down there: 'Here you are, Gilbert.'"
Honouring his roots
While it may seem a left-field career move for the Knives Out star, Daniel revealed he "grew up in pubs" as both his parents worked in hospitality.
"I grew up in pubs. You know the ups and downs of a pub," Daniel said. "I know the good and the bad of it.
"As a kid I'd get to go down and talk to the locals, especially at lunchtime, and it was always about the day, what’s going on. It’s an outlet for people to come and talk about stuff, maybe their problems.”
Daniel added: "There were lock-ins and things, especially on New Year’s Eve. People used to party quite hard."
Daniel confirmed that while refurbishments are set to take place, he clarified that he won't be turning The Horseshoe into a modern gastropub.
007 speculation
The update comes amid the ongoing speculation as to who will be replacing the British star as the next James Bond.
On the reported shortlist are stars including Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Jack Barton.
James Bond producer Amy Pascal opened up to Deadline about the qualities the team behind the franchise are looking for in their next 007. "It's got to be something really different that is... stirring and exciting and different,” she claimed.
"I don't want to see any of [the rumoured stars] as Bond because we now know so much about them," Debbie told the outlet.
"We want to know as little about them personally as possible, because that’s what spies are. We don’t need to know where he goes shopping or who his parents are, or where he lives." So it looks like Jack could be at the top of the list!
