Acting legend Rowan Atkinson is one of the most recognisable faces in British comedy thanks to his iconic characters Mr Bean, Blackadder and Johnny English. The 71-year-old comedian and writer, who was awarded with a CBE in 2013, is a true national treasure who has left a lasting impact in television and film.
Creativity clearly runs in the family, as Rowan's eldest daughter, Lily, is also following in her famous dad's footsteps in a creative career.
Lily, 31, whom Rowan welcomed with his ex-wife, makeup artist Sunetra Sastry, along with Benjamin, 33, is an artist and musician who formerly worked as a burlesque dancer.
Rowan also shares an eight-year-old daughter named Isla with his partner Louise Ford.
Lily frequently updates her Instagram followers with photos showcasing her latest artwork. Read on to discover more about Rowan's eldest daughter.
Inside Lily's creative career
Lily is both a self-taught artist and a musician.
According to her website, her music and video creations have evolved alongside her painting work.
"For her art practice, Lili uses figurative and surrealist imagery to reveal the truth behind how human behaviour manifests differently in men and women," reads her website. "My paintings are portals into the human psyche, and they show that in the pursuit of what is true, all else must fall away to diagnose and see the truth," she says.
Meanwhile, Lily's acrylic paintings "conceptually embody the perseverance through pain and struggle to uncover what is good – the unraveling of chaos to achieve order."
As a singer-songwriter, Lily has released a number of singles, including 2024's 'Breaking Souls' and 2023's 'New Friends'.
Lily dropped her dad's name
In 2017, Lily decided to drop the surname Atkinson and instead use her mother's name, Sastry.
Despite reports of a fallout between the father and daughter following Rowan's split from her mum Sunetra, Lily supported her dad at the 2018 premiere of Johnny English Strikes Again.
Lily's love of the countryside
Lily often shares stunning snaps taken against the rolling hills of the British countryside. In one post from 2024, the artist shared her affiliation with the rural landscape.
"There is something magical about the English countryside; I've grown up in this land and have always understood its magic," she penned.
Explaining her personal connection to the greenery, she continued: "My grandfather was a farmer and I have always treasured the memories of playing (and working!) in the country; I learned a lot in those years. The land, as well as farming, should always be protected. Happy Autumn."
Lily's candid comments about her parents' split
In March last year, Lily reflected on the struggles of navigating her "broken family" during her 20s.
"I went through so much chaos and loneliness in my twenties," she wrote on social media. "Now I am 30, I can see clearly where I was at and what was happening inside me during the darkest days.
"I was so lost, and only really started to feel vaguely normal in my late twenties. I have always been trapped between worlds; I do not belong here, but also don't belong there."
She continued: "It's hard to find out who you are in the midst of no friends, a broken family, and no idea how to navigate making music and trying to understand the world.
"It has taken me years to figure out my life and who I am, as well as become the best person I can be. I have made countless mistakes and been hurt, lost, and alone many a time."
Lily revealed that her love of art helped her cope during the difficult period. "Art was my guiding light." she shared. "The thing that made all the suffering worth it; as I was working towards a goal, a dream."
