Holland Taylor had already made a name for herself thanks to All My Children and Bosom Buddies, and she reintroduced herself to a new generation when she played Evelyn Harper in Two and a Half Men.

The character was the vain and acid-tongued mother of show protagonists Charlie and Alan Harper, but despite providing plenty of laughs, and earning four Emmy nominations, Holland started to step back after the sixth season.

Although she had been a part of the main cast, she later only made guest appearances, and speaking on the Alchemy with Anthony Mason podcast, she revealed that she stepped back from the iconic sitcom due to her low pay.

"They never paid me very well on that show," she explained. "I was paid on that show what I had made on a series like eight years before or something. And I got four Emmy nominations, and they never gave me a raise. They usually do."

Holland stepped back when her contract expired

The actress, who has been dating Sarah Paulson since 2015, added: "I stopped being under contract. So, in other words, they would say, 'Can you do a guest appearance at the end of March?' And I would say, 'No, I cannot'. I only did it if I wanted to do it.”

"I loved a lot about that show, but they were not full of courtesies. In any case, when the six years were up, I said, 'I don't want to be on a contract anymore, but I will visit the show occasionally if you want'. I mean, I did play the boys' mother."

Two and a Half Men stars' salaries

Thanks to her other roles in the likes of Legally Blonde and The Truman Show, Holland is believed to have amassed a staggering net worth of $12 million, making her considerably wealthier than some of her female co-stars, such as Marin Hinkle and the late Conchata Ferrell.

However, this pales in comparison when it comes to some of her other co-stars, including Angus T. Jones, who was just ten when he started on the show. The actor, who stepped back from acting in 2016, is believed to be worth $20 million.

Meanwhile, Jon Cryer, who played the neurotic Alan Harper in the show, is worth a cool $70 million. It may surprise you that despite fronting the sitcom for eight years, Charlie Sheen is only believed to be worth $1 million.

At the height of his fame, the star was earning around $1.8 million for every episode of Two and a Half Men, but after encountering difficult times, his net worth has plummeted.
