The A-list cast of the highly anticipated next Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping, lit up London on Wednesday night for an ultra-special fan screening – and the fashion did not disappoint.
Perhaps one of the most glamorous looks of the night went to Hollywood legend Glenn Close, who was gorgeous in green for her UK appearance on the Hunger Games press tour. The 79-year-old actress brought the drama we've come to expect from the Hunger Games franchise's futuristic fashion in an oversized Simone Rocha gown, which gathered in a large bow below the waist.
Glenn's hair was swept up in a sculpted style and her arms beneath the sleeveless gown were covered in leather opera gloves for a contrasting finish. The actress walked the red carpet with a cane in hand and an aide on her arm after recently revealing she had undergone hip replacement surgery.
"I have a cane because I had a complete hip replacement. Found out that my left hip was in really bad shape, and my whole thing right now is to keep myself in running order so that I can really leap into whatever challenges come my way," she shared in a personal video message on Instagram on 20 October.
Glenn transforms for Hunger Games role
Glenn physically transforms on-screen in the upcoming Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping to step into the wicked role of Capitol escort Drusilla.
The makeup team on the film taped back the star's eyes and nose and used a prosthetic to make her nose stick up. "I had a prosthetic makeup artist, I had a regular makeup artist, we had a wig maker, and then you had the costumer," Glenn opened up about the process of getting into character in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"That was my core team. And we sat down and just kind of figured out the looks. It was really, really fun."
The Hunger GamesHunger Games stars steal the show
The stars of Sunrise on the Reaping descended on London in the most show-stopping looks as they went all out for the dazzling fan event.
McKenna Grace's Almée couture gown was a piece of wearable art with intricate embroidery and three-dimensional flowers that resembled the striking mountainous landscape of the arena in the upcoming prequel. The actress plays fan-favourite District 12 tribute Maysilee and her twin Merrilee Donner.
Her co-star Elle Fanning, who portrays a younger version of Effie Trinket in the film set 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games trilogy, stepped out in London in a ballet-inspired ensemble by Robert Wun. The star's hair was slicked back in a bun and featured an artful fascinator with a ballerina figurine placed on her head.
Stars Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Kieran Culkin, leading man Joseph Zada (who plays a young Haymitch Abernathy), and Whitney Peak were all in attendance. The new Hunger Games prequel follows a 16-year-old Haymitch, played by Woody Harrelson in the original films, in the 50th Hunger Games.
