John Frieda, the popular stylist to the stars, passed away on 3 November. A statement from his iconic hair salon confirmed the sad news, as it read: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our dear John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family."

It continued: "John was more than a mentor to us; he was a true icon of the hair industry. He was the person who taught us everything, believed in us, and made us better. Rest in peace, John. You will be forever in our hearts."

During his life, the celebrity stylist had A-list clients including Jackie Kennedy, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson and even the late Princess of Wales. John was also the brains behind Joanna Lumley's iconic 'Purdey bowl cut', which she wore during her time on The New Avengers.

At the time of his death, John left behind his wife, Avery, and his three children, two of whom he shared with Avery and a son whom he shared with Scottish music legend Lulu.

John Frieda's marriages and children

John's first marriage was to Eurovision winner Lulu, with the pair meeting two years after she split from her first husband, Bee Gees singer Maurice Gibb. The romance caught the singer off guard, and she later admitted: "John came as a surprise to me because I wasn't looking for him or anyone else.

"I was shattered after Maurice. I was nervous to take the plunge again."

The couple welcomed a son during their relationship

The couple married in 1977, and two months after their nuptials, Lulu fell pregnant, and the couple welcomed a son, Jordan, together. Sadly, love wasn't to last for John and Lulu, and the couple divorced in 1991.

Lulu later claimed that John told her: "We're not getting along, we've nothing in common. We never did have anything in common. I know exactly where I’m going and I know exactly what I want in my life. I want out." She would go on to call their split "excruciating".

John later found love again, with the star later meeting Avery Angelli, the widow of Fiat heir Giovanni Alberto Agnelli. The couple first met in 2002, five years after Giovanni had passed away from cancer, but it wasn't until 2019 that the pair decided to wed.

The couple welcomed two children, Jackson and Leyla, while John also became a stepfather to Avery's daughter, Asia.

John Frieda's island owning brother

John wasn't the only notable face in his family, as he was the older brother of record producer and landowner Nigel Frieda.

During his career, the 74-year-old has worked with the Rolling Stones and the Sugababes, reportedly founding the latter group.
