As the weather heats up, guests at the Chelsea Flower Show are beginning to revive their summer wardrobes, including Cressida Bonas.
Dressing for the sunshine, the actress and model, 37, visited the Lady Garden Foundation's Silent No More Garden on 20 May, where she suffered an unfortunate fashion faux pas in a candy pink co-ord from Penelope Chilvers.
She paired the brand's 'Loxley' skirt, which features a striped print and ruffled midi skirt, with the matching 'Evenly' blouse, which is reversible thanks to its adjustable bow. Choosing a relaxed look, Cressida left the blouse loose for a boxy fit and added brown espadrilles and long gold necklaces.
Her long blonde hair was left in loose waves to complete her boho aesthetic. The stunning outfit perfectly fit the smart-casual Chelsea Flower Show dress code, so much so that she wasn't the only person wearing it!
One day earlier, celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna, 51, wore the same look, but styled differently. She tucked the puff-sleeve top into the elasticated waistband of the smocked skirt, layered underneath a relaxed-fit blue denim jacket for added warmth.
Finished with oversized sunglasses and chunky tan suede platform Penelope Chilvers sandals, her contemporary look is set to be a hit this summer season.
Relaxed style
Cressida, who famously dated Prince Harry for two years between 2012 and 2014, previously described her style as "not too formal."
She told Vogue: "It girl… I think [is] a derogatory term… But how would I describe my style? I just go for comfort, really. I don’t like wearing high heels, I don’t like wearing anything that’s uncomfortable, I just like feeling comfortable and relaxed… not too formal, nothing too stiff."
Not only does this summarise her latest look, but it also explains her laid-back approach to finding a wedding dress for her lockdown ceremony with Harry Wentworth-Stanley in 2020.
In an essay for The Spectator, the White House Farm star said she was still in search of a bridal gown on Oxford Street four days before the ceremony.
"Finding nothing, I remembered an old Whistles dress I once wore for a James Arthur music video. I went home and found the dusty frock at the back of my cupboard. After some ironing, it looked good as new," said Cressida. She is believed to have worn the 'Guinevere' design from James Arthur's 2017 music video for 'Naked'.
