Victoria's Secret trainer reveals the workout behind an angel body

Victoria's Secret angels train like athletes ahead of the annual lingerie show, taking up various different sports and exercises to tone up their body before hitting the famous runway.

But there's one exercise that seems most popular with the models – ballet. Most of the girls train with Ballet Beautiful to hone their physiques, and HELLO! spoke to founder Mary Helen Bower on the pink carpet at the show to get some top tips and tricks...

"Gigi and Devon are so cute. It's been really fun working with them this year," Mary told us. "I've worked with so many of the angels over the years – Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Karlie Kloss and Candice Swanepoel."So why do the ladies turn to ballet ahead of the show? "The workout's really targeted but it still allows you to feel like feminine and sexy and so when they're out there hopefully they're at their most confident and strong," she said.

Mary added that most of the ladies have private training and focusing on "toning exercises, lengthening the limbs, so building tone through the legs but making sure that muscle is really long. The thing about ballet is that it's about extending the body. Most fitness is about contracting so the results are really different."

While most of us don't have access to private Ballet Beautiful classes, there are some exercises we can do at home. "Ballet lunges are so good for the booty, but they don't bulk up the thighs, so that's a favourite," she said. "I love our one-leg bridge and then tons of abs – you have to twist a lot so that you're working your obliques, that gives you that beautiful line down the side of the stomach. That's always a favourite with the angels."
