Topshop has become the latest high street retailer to launch its own bridal collection. The range will launch in stores this April, and feature a range of covetable wedding dresses along with bridesmaid dresses and accessories.

Few details are known about the collection, but it is sure to be a success with thrifty brides who are looking for a wedding dress that is not only fashionable, but affordable too.

There will be five different wedding gowns released, with prices starting at £350. The collection will also include a wider range of bridesmaid dresses available for as little as £85. A selection of bridal accessories and lingerie will complete the line.

So far Topshop has shared a photo of only one of the dresses – a gorgeous soft pink satin gown with ruched shoulders and embroidered waist detailing that bodes well for the rest of the line.

It marks the retailer's second foray into bridal fashion; in 2014 Topshop collaborated with designer Richard Nicoll for the Tie the Knot collection, which they said offered a "younger, cooler alternative" to traditional gowns.

An increasing number of high street and online stores have made the move into affordable wedding clothes, including ASOS, Missguided and Whistles, who presented their first ever bridal collection in November.

They follow in the footsteps of Whistles, whose bridal line is released in February

The range comprises six dresses and one jumpsuit, and is set to launch in February. Prices are slightly higher than Topshop, ranging from £499 to £699.

Meanwhile ASOS has achieved huge success with its ASOS Bride collection since its launch in March. The e-tailer revealed in October that some 9,200 brides had already walked down the aisle in one of its ivory or white gowns, which cost as little as £120.

The range has since expanded to include everything from gowns and lingerie to wedding shoes and hair pieces.
