Beyonce caused a social media frenzy on Friday after introducing the world to her one-month-old twins, Sir and Rumi Carter on Instagram. In the striking image, captioned: "Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today," the pop sensation is holding her new babies in her arms, dressed in a show-stopping gown by Spanish fashion house Palomo Spain. The striking floor-length number was part of the brand’s SS17 nature inspired collection – "Boy Walks in an Exotic Forest," and is adorned in a whimsical floral print in mauve hues.

Emulating her pregnancy announcement back in February, Beyonce once again accessorised her look with a veil – this time in a contrasting turquoise tone. A beautiful backdrop of flowers in the background too, mirror the iconic photo – which broke the Instagram record for the most liked photo of all time.

Within 15 minutes of the announcement, there were more than 17,000 tweets being sent per minute refereeing to the pregnancy. 'Twins' was also the top trend on Twitter, with 'Beyonce', 'Blue' and 'Beyhive' also trending.

Throughout her pregnancy, Beyonce wowed fans with some seriously stylish outfits, spanning form-fitting dresses at red carpet events to cool jeans and bang-on-trend slogan tees while spending time relaxing at home. Memorable outfits include her head-turning gold embellished Peter Dundas gown that she wore to debut her baby bump on stage at the Grammys back in February, and her statement slogan 'preggers' T-shirt, which she teamed with ripped jeans, a denim jacket and white trainers while posing in her garden in an Instagram photo.

Beyoncé and Jay Z, who have been married since 2008, are already parents to five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

In an earlier interview with ABC News, Beyoncé opened up about her experience of motherhood with daughter Blue Ivy. "I am very protective," she said. "I just want to make sure that she can have a healthy, safe, normal life. In the back of my mind, she's my priority. And life is completely different now. So I'm - I feel really, really just lucky that I can still do what I love, and now have a way bigger meaning. And that's to be her mother."
