Attending the official engagement photocall with her new husband-to-be Prince Harry, Meghan Markle showcased her modern yet ultra-feminine style in a bottle green dress, which showed off her slim frame and complimented her lean curves to perfection. She added a stunning white, simple trench coat by Canadian brand Line The Label, strappy Aquazzura Matilde Crisscross nude suede pumps, and earrings by Birks. Harry and Meghan arrived just after 2pm to a sea of photographers, with the 36-year-old actress positively glowing and beaming with happiness as she posed with her Prince. Her trademark, rich brunette locks were curled in a voluminous style, and her make-up was flawlessly applied.

The couple's loved-up appearance sparked happy memories of Prince William and Duchess Kate's own engagement announcement in November 2010, when Kate wowed onlookers in her iconic blue Issa dress. The direct contrast between the two ladies' engagement looks is apparent; Duchess Kate chose to opt for a more formal, occasion wear look, while Meghan went for a classic, understated style that had a slightly more casual stance.

Duchess Kate's silk wrap dress was in a regal blue shade, and perfectly complimented her new sapphire engagement ring. The long-sleeved dress subsequently sold at super speed, and was completely out of stock within just 24 hours, sparking a trend for the 'Little Blue Dress'.

Meghan's own selling power is also already evident. Within minutes of her coat being indentified, Line the Label's website had crashed due to the volume of people trying to access the site. And her nude suede pumps have also completely sold out online.

It's been a very exciting day for the royal family and the general public following Harry and Meghan's engagement announcement. A statement released by Kensington Palace on Monday morning read: "His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle. The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course. His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents. The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace."
