When the Duchess of Sussex wore an Oscar de la Renta wrap dress to a society wedding a few weeks ago, the china blue print and flowing style seriously divided opinions. Some onlookers deemed the frock too large for Meghan's petite frame, while others though her choice of dress for the marriage of Princess Diana's niece Celia McCorquodale was dreamy and elegant. But it looks like the naysayers were wrong and 'the Meghan effect' is still in full force, as other celebrities are now being spotted channelling her look.
Selena's look was elegant and romantic
On Saturday Selena Gomez appeared at the premiere of her new film Hotel Transylvania 3 wearing a beautiful floral crop top and midi skirt combo by the designer, in the exact same print as Duchess Meghan's dress. The gorgeous outfit maintained all the romance of Meghan's look, but the coordinating crop top and skirt style gave it a fashion-forward edge. She teamed the look with crystal-studded strappy sandals, a sparkling box clutch bag, subtle silver hoop earrings and matching cross necklace – the actress is known to be a devout Catholic. She wore her hair in a relaxed up 'do with tendrils framing her face, and finished the look off with a subtle smokey eye and natural lip.

Meghan's fashion influence recently lead to her being nominated for a prestigious style award. The new royal is up for Choice Style Icon in the annual Teen Choice Awards, alongside Blake Lively, Harry Styles, Migos, Zendaya and Chadwick Boseman. This is thought to be a first for the British royal family.

And high street brands are continuing to emulate her style in a bid to get a slice of the 'the Meghan effect'. Most recently, Kurt Geiger created a £29 dupe of Meghan's beloved Aquazzura heeled pump shoes, which usually cost around £500 per pair. The black high heeled shoes feature an elegant sling back and tie detail at the heel, and look remarkably similar to the Denueve pumps Meghan wore to the recent Queen's Young Leaders awards.
