She's one of Europe's chicest royals, never putting a foot wrong when she steps out in public in her perfectly polished outfits. And it looks like Queen Letizia of Spain's two daughters have inherited her stylish ways after they appeared at their country's national day on Friday looking perfectly put together in coordinating outfits. Leonor, 12, who is heir to the Spanish throne, wore an elegant red tartan knee-length dress while her 11-year-old sister Sofia opted for a similar style frock in pale blue. Both the princesses wore matching flat Mary Jane shoes – in red for Leonor and blue for Sofia.

Letizia looked every inch the proud mum

They arrived at the event, which commemorates the day Christopher Columbus set sail for the Americas, alongside their glamorous mother. The 46-year-old queen wore an elegant blush pink Varela dress featuring a drop waist and a floaty midi-length skirt featuring layers of tulle and lace. She accessorised with a leather waist belt, a matching fitted blazer, a dusky pink clutch bag and a pair of Magrit court shoes in the same shade. She wore her brunette hair in a sleek side-parted up 'do and added a pair of studded earrings, and went for a glamorous makeup look consisting of bronze smokey eyes and a glossy lip.

Earlier that week Letizia turned heads in one of her most daring-ever outfits featuring a leather skirt and bold geometric print. The wife of King Felipe attended a World Mental Health Day event in Madrid last Tuesday, where she made an entrance in a distinctive tan leather pencil skirt by Hugo Boss featuring bold orange and purple panels, which she teamed with a matching geometric print short-sleeved sweater in the same bright shades.

The fashion icon recently caused a stampede when she was spotted in a dress by Spanish high street label Massimo Dutti. The £100 white ankle-length number featuring a navy square pattern promptly sold out from the brand's website, and has since been relaunched in a reverse colourway which is perfect for autumn dressing.
