The gala marked the conclusion of the 16th edition of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, one of Spain's leading film festivals.

During the evening, Queen Letizia presented the Master of Cinema Award to celebrated French composer Alexandre Desplat in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cinema.
