Queen Máxima of the Netherlands rocked red on Wednesday night, stepping out to attend the King Willem I Awards 2026 at Circa Amsterdam.

King Willem Alexander's wife, 55, proved that the most outstanding outfits can feature recycled pieces. She re-wore a scarlet Maison Valentino jumpsuit, which Royal Fashion Police on Instagram identified as dating back to 2015.

A royal recycle

The Queen first wore the leg-lengthening style 11 years ago at the grand opening of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's new season at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

For the King Willem I Awards this year, the royal accessorised the shoulder-baring jumpsuit with an embellished satin clutch, also by Valentino, and an incredible pair of red patent platform heels by Miu Miu featuring a bow on the toe.

We also adored Máxima's glorious diamond and ruby floral drop earrings, which peeked out from beneath her blonde locks, which had been straightened and parted down one side.

"Queen Maxima’s red Valentino jumpsuit still looks incredible 11 years on. The sleek silhouette and halter neckline are as elegant as ever, and wearing it head-to-toe in red with matching Miu Miu heels makes it feel fresh again," stylist Constance Richardson tells us. A pop of red is bang-on trend for SS26, and this scarlet shade feels invigorating and bold.

The King Willem I Foundation recognises companies that build a stronger economy. The business awards are presented every two years in the categories Large, Medium, and Small Business (SME), and the Plaque for Sustainable Entrepreneurship.

A big hat moment

It comes after the royal stepped out earlier this week in perhaps her largest hat to date. The mother-of-three, along with her husband, visited the community of Wessem during their visit to Limburg in the Netherlands.

She once again opted for a recycled dress, pulling a Natan Couture dress from her wardrobe that dates back to 2017. Máxima's dress featured a sheer mesh skirt and was covered from the waist up with a paisley print pashmina.

Capped-toe four-inch heels and diamond earrings elevated the look to the next level, and her 'Caly' clutch from Santesteban was a lovely nod to her Argentinian roots.
