Few royals can hold a candle to Princess Charlene when it comes to the most jaw-dropping transformations. The Princess of Monaco has not only sported an array of different hair colours and cuts but her fashion has evolved in spades from her days as an Olympic athlete in the early noughties.

After dramatically cutting off her hair in 2020, the royal has grown it back out to a glamorous shoulder length as of July 2026, looking more like her late mother-in-law Grace Kelly than ever before with the same Old Hollywood waves.

After embracing a more vintage-inspired aesthetic recently, see the royal's most memorable transformations over the years, including the one incredibly bold haircut that we simply can't forget.

Bridal look

Charlene was bridal perfection for her wedding to Prince Albert in July 2011. The royal transformed for her fairytale day in a custom embroidered Armani Privé gown with a veil covering her blonde hair, which was worn in an elegant up-do.

Fit to be a movie star

Princess Charlene could seriously be a movie star! The Princess of Monaco is one of the few royals to have attended the Academy Awards, and she absolutely nailed the glamorous dress code in 2012.

In this year, the royal debuted her new pixie cut to the world. It was also during this time that she was making her transition from athletic fashion to a wardrobe fit for a princess with elegant gowns.

A bold fringe

From Zooey Deschanel to Taylor Swift, many A-list stars have tried a fringe. While she'd previously had a pixie cut with side-swept bangs in 2012, Charlene added herself to the list of fringe enthusiasts in 2020 when she debuted baby bangs.

The royal looked glamorous for the Monte-Carlo Gala For Planetary Health event in September 2020, wearing a stunning silver gown with cape sleeves. For the finishing touch, Charlene wore her hair in a blunt bob with her short fringe taking the spotlight.

Galactic masterpiece

While royal fans are used to seeing her in glamorous ball gowns and tailored pantsuits, Charlene isn't afraid to try a bold fashion look here and there.

For the Rose Ball during the 69th annual Red Cross Gala in 2017, Charlene stepped out in a galactic-inspired look, looking striking in a metallic jumpsuit with sheer pants adorned with sequins.

She complemented her edgy look with a voluminous pixie cut and dark eye makeup.

A statement new look

Back in 2020, Charlene completely switched up her look when she shaved half her hair off with an undercut.

The pixie cut reimagined

The pixie cut was back in 2023, but not quite in the same way as when Charlene wore it in 2012.

The royal once again transformed her signature short hair with super streaky blonde highlights to accentuate her dark roots. Charlene is pictured here with the bold look while arriving for a reception held at Buckingham Palace for overseas guests ahead of the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Homage to her late mother-in-law

Charlene looked like the spitting image of her famous late mother-in-law at the 77th Monaco Red Cross Gala.

The royal arrived for the event in a shimmering floor-length gown and with her hair styled in sculpted waves, an Old Hollywood look beloved by her husband Prince Albert's late mother, actress Grace Kelly.
