Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands stepped out in Germany last night with an incredibly luxurious accessory from her mother Queen Maxima's collection.
The young royal, 22, made a stylish appearance at the opening gala of the 2026 FEI World Championships in Aachen on Tuesday evening alongside royals including Queen Mary of Denmark and Zara Tindall. Amalia dressed in a gorgeous green striped summer dress for the special occasion, which was perfectly complemented with an emerald green leather bag with a gold metallic handle from high-end designer Elie Saab.
The royal carried the US$1,655 (approximately £1,220) 'Petit Wave Bag', which she borrowed from her mother's wardrobe and was identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. The royal style account reports that Queen Maxima also owns the same pair of green Gianvito Rossi heels her daughter wore out on Tuesday night.
Queen Maxima's borrowed bag
Queen Maxima has been pictured with the designer bag on two separate occasions this year. She reportedly first had the bag with her when she reopened the Scheveningen boulevard on 2 April, pairing the accessory with a matching green Natan Couture dress and Philip Treacy hat.
The royal was seen again with her Elie Saab handbag a month later for the opening of the State of Fashion Biennial 2026 in Arnhem on 13 May. For the occasion, she looked effortlessly elegant in an ivory suit and wide-brimmed floppy hat with her pair of green suede 'Gianvito 105 Pumps' to tie in with the colour of her bag.
Princess Amalia's outfit details
While her mother selected the handbag for a statement pop of colour in contrast to her pale suit in May, Amalia co-ordinated the gorgeous shade of the bag to her striped white and green Nina Blanc dress. The young royal's dress tied at the shoulders and featured vertical stripes travelling from the box neckline to the hem of the skirt.
The sleeveless design revealed a large scar along her upper arm for the first time after undergoing surgery for a broken arm following a fall from her horse last year. Amalia wore her long blonde locks half down for the day and added a pair of emerald green dangle earrings for a final sparkling touch.
The Princess was spotted sitting next to Denmark's Queen Mary at the gala, who opted for a brown sleeveless maxi dress featuring a delicate white micro-polka-dot print.
