The Princess of Wales has been very busy of late. Not only has her eldest son, Prince George, started his school career at Eton, but she's also had a lot of royal engagements and appearances in September alone.
Now that the 'ber' months have arrived and the seasonal shift is upon us, the royal has revamped her wardrobe with major aplomb, notably embracing darker, gothic tones. And what's more, these looks have a high-fashion, designer edge, giving her overall look a luxurious feel. Her latest ensembles mark a distinct departure from her spring-summer pastel wardrobe, which featured fresher tones of white, polka dots, zesty yellows and perfect pinks.

The Princess looked elegant in a plum-coloured belted dress with matching heels at the event, which was revealed for the first time on Friday. The dress she donned was a new number by the famously English heritage label Burberry. The sumptuous design had a resplendent finish and gave a distinctive autumnal feel.

On Thursday, Kate made a solo appearance in Southend-on-Sea for her visit to the Forward Trust to mark Addiction Awareness Week. Adhering to the heritage look she is known for, the mother of three wore a pair of dark chocolate cropped trousers by Joseph, adding Boden loafers and a double-breasted jacquard blazer by Max Mara over a chocolate brown knit top. Once again, the royal went for autumn-appropriate shades of brown.

The standout style featured elegant pleats with cap sleeves, a plunging neckline and semi-sheer detailing. The pièce de résistance was her jewels. The 44-year-old donned the Queen Mother's Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, which features pearl beading, with the inlay jewel being the absolute highlight: a heart-shaped amethyst and diamond pendant. The choice of her tonal purple dress is deemed gothic because the colour is associated with magic and mystery and is opulent - ideal for autumn occasionwear dressing.

For her engagement on the Isle of Bute, she debuted a new outfit that also had serious autumn connotations. Choosing to go dark yet again, Kate donned a pair of brown skinny jeans by Holland Cooper alongside a simple turtleneck jumper. Kate elevated the undeniably casual look with a fabulous new trench coat by Burberry. With its tailored finish, the chocolate-brown outerwear staple was made even more distinctive by the brand's signature house check lining, visible at the bottom of the hem. The double-breasted design brought instant structure to Kate's otherwise low-key ensemble.

Kate was the picture of elegance at the start of September as she dropped her son, Prince George, off at Eton College for his first day of secondary education. Marking the milestone with fashion, the mother of three looked expertly stylish, despite the heavy rain. Carrying a sizeable umbrella, the royal donned a beautiful, bottle-green dress she first wore in 2023, by one of her favourite brands, Emilia Wickstead. The dark tonal number mirrored the dark and dreary weather - the style featured a rounded neckline and fell below the knee in an A-line silhouette with a floaty skirt that looked fluid as she walked.
