Bupsi Brown was eliminated from the X Factor

After her rendition of Marvin Gaye's You're A Wonderful One, Bupsi spoke to HELLO! and revealed that she wasn't surprised to be the first to leave: "I just knew in my gut that it was gonna happen. I knew days before. I knew this song wasn't right for me, I knew it wasn't going to work."

During Saturday's live show, Bupsi's mentor Simon Cowell admitted he'd made a mistake with the song choice for 'This Is Me' week, in which contestants perform songs that represent them as an artist.

Bupsi revealed she wanted to perform a different song

"He does feel responsible for how it went down, and all he can do is apologise," Bupsi revealed. "I don't want to beat Simon down with a stick, he opened the door for me and kept it open. I'm sure if he could've clicked his heels three times and magiced the votes for me, or changed it, he would've done that for me."

The song choice didn't go down well with her fans, who were disappointed that the performance lacked Bupsi's trademark dance moves and attitude. "It just did not sit well with everybody," she said ruefully.

Judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini confessed that she had never even heard the Marvin Gaye hit before, while Bupsi just wishes she could go back and perform a different song. She admitted she was uncomfortable with the choice but did not want to come across as a diva by making a fuss. "If I could have changed that song I would've changed it in a heartbeat," she said.

Although her X Factor journey may have come to an end, the 37-year-old has vowed to keep performing. "There's only one Bupsi, there's no one else like me in this universe!" she explained. "So it's up to me where it goes from here. I'm going to leave it all in God's hands for now."

Bupsi wasn't the only contestant to leave the competition on Sunday. Alien Uncovered were also eliminated after facing Kiera Weathers in the sing-off. Cheryl's girl group failed to impress the judges, with Simon, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora all voting to save Kiera.
