Nathan Fillion has shared a message for his birthday, saying that he has "never been happier" while reflecting on how fast time is passing. He added that it reminded him of what was "really important" in his life.

Sharing a video of his friend and former Castle co-star, Seamus Dever – which had a surprising ending, as you can see below - he captioned the post: "As I grow older, I notice time moves differently. Much faster than it did when I was a lad. It reminds me to appreciate what is really important, to live in the moment when times are good, and to change the moment when they aren’t.

"On my birthday, I like to evaluate and take inventory. To that end, I’ve never been happier. Thank you, all of you, for your birthday wishes, but perhaps we should donate them to the less fortunate? All my wishes have already come true. (And thank you, Seamus, for this video. It made me laugh out loud. A true gift)."

Seamus and Nathan are still good pals seven years after Castle was cancelled back in 2016 after eight seasons. While it is unclear why Castle was cancelled, the circumstances surrounding the show's ending were somewhat controversial, as it was originally announced that season nine would be going ahead, but wouldn't be starring Nathan's co-star Stana Katic, who played Beckett on the hit show.

In a rare comment about the show's ending, Nathan told New York Post: "It wasn’t the beautiful send-off that I think maybe you could hope for, but it’s the entertainment industry, it’s a business, I get it. I don’t take it personally when a show gets canceled — I can’t take it personally, all my shows get canceled! Look at my resume, it’s a long list of canceled TV shows."
