Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb took to TV on Friday morning from a studio which was missing a lot of its regular stars.
The Today Show stars were quick to reveal the reason for their usual co-stars' absence by telling audiences that Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin would be appearing on the 3rd Hour of the Today Show live from Sonoma, California.
However, the duo – who have both also been absent from the show several times in the last few months for varied reasons – had some unexpected comments to make about their friends' trip later in the show.
"It's a little empty around here this morning," Dylan said during the show's second hour.
"[Criag and Al] they've got a Roadshow with Sheinelle and Dylan," she went on to say, but then added sarcastically: "It's very difficult for them this morning, they're in Sanoma – wine country!"
© Nathan Congleton/NBC"It's called a boondoggle, and they're on it!" Hoda added in an amusingly critical, but definitely light-hearted fashion.
The two hosts then giggled a little before continuing with the show, but it was evident that they both were just a little jealous of the amazing exploits their co-stars were being treated to over in California.
Al, Sheinelle, Craig and Dylan were absent from Today on Thursday and Friday in order to take part in a special Today Show broadcast sponsored by Sonoma County Tourism.

However, answers were soon provided, as Dylan Dreyer took to Instagram to tease her and Al's exciting project while also revealing that they would be joined by Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin outside of Today's New York studios on Friday.
"We’re doing what??? Where??? You don’t want to miss the 3rd hour of @todayshow Friday morning," she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post which showed her and the other stars enjoying activities including a trip in a hot air balloon.

Others were perplexed as they had seen some of the hosts on the air that morning, only to discover it was a pre-taped show.
