Claudia Winkleman has received support from fellow broadcaster Graham Norton after her new BBC chat show sparked a mixed reaction from critics.
The presenter's latest television venture has divided opinion since its launch, with some reviewers describing it as a "mess" and a "bore". However, Graham was quick to defend his colleague, insisting the show succeeds precisely because it reflects Claudia's unique presenting style.
Speaking to Daily Mail's Richard Eden at the Michael Josephson Farewell Charity Ball in Manchester, the talk show host said: "She shouldn't be trying to be me. She should be trying to be Claudia - and she nailed that."
Graham's support comes as little surprise, however, as his production company, So Television, is behind the programme.
Claudia, who is known for presenting Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors, has built a reputation for her distinctive humour and offbeat interview style - something fans say sets her apart from more traditional chat show hosts.
For the launch on Friday, 54-year-old Claudia sat down with Hollywood actors, Jeff Goldblum and Vanessa Williams, as well as British comedy stars, Jennifer Saunders and Tom Allen.
Despite some of the backlash, the show was also met with some positive comments, with one viewer saying it's Claudia "doing what she does best."
Another added on Instagram: "Love the conversation style of the show so much [red love heart emoji] and the brilliant audience chat too! Smashing it @claudiawinkle." A third post read: "Laughed my head off tonight, brilliant show."
Talking about the programme ahead of its launch, Claudia said: "I can't quite believe it and I'm incredibly grateful to the BBC for this amazing opportunity. I'm obviously going to be awful, that goes without saying, but I'm over the moon they're letting me try."
Claudia's next slew of guests will be West Side Story star Rachel Zegler, former One Direction band member Niall Horan, and comedians Joanne McNally and Guz Khan.
