Prime Video's action-packed drama Citadel returned to screens after a three-year wait, and viewers have wasted no time getting stuck into the new episodes.

Billed as a "heart-racing global spy thriller," the series follows elite spy agents whose memories were wiped by a powerful syndicate that destroyed their agency.

Not only does the show boast a seriously impressive cast, led by Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Stanley Tucci, but its executive produced by the Russo brothers, who are best known for directing four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it's safe to say viewers are in good hands!

Promising to be a fast-paced, adrenaline-filled series with plenty of twists, Citadel could be one to watch for fans of character-led spy thrillers such as Black Doves and Slow Horses. Plus, if, like me, you're a fan of Richard Madden and think he'd make an excellent James Bond, you'll enjoy watching his performance in Citadel.

What is Citadel season two about?

The series follows Mason Kane (Richard Madden), Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), and Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci) – elite operatives of a legendary agency destroyed by Manticore, a ruthless network backed by the world's most powerful families.

The synopsis continues: "When a terrifying new threat emerges, the three are pulled back into action. Now they must recruit an unlikely team of skilled new operatives and launch a globe-spanning mission to stop a conspiracy that could reshape humanity.

"With blockbuster action, shocking betrayals, and an expanded ensemble of mysterious agents, the stakes have never been higher – and anyone could be friend or foe."

What have viewers said about Citadel season 2?

Others were disappointed by the ending, but don't worry, no spoilers here. One fan penned: "I don't want to spoil it but damn... It didn't have to go down like that." Another viewer called for a feature film, adding, "If there's no third season, they should at least make a movie to give the story a proper ending. 10/10."

Who stars in Citadel?

Richard Madden (Bodyguard, Game of Thrones) leads the cast as Mason Kane, alongside Priyanka Chopra-Jonas (Baywatch, Love Again) as Nadia Sinh and Stanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada, The Lovely Bones) as Bernard Orlick.
