Kelly Rowland has once again proven she's a beauty force to be reckoned with, this time with a sleek new hairstyle. The 35-year-old has embraced one of the season's biggest hair trends and gone for a daring new look – a short bob hairstyle.
Kelly Rowland has joined the bob brigade
The singer debuted her striking 'do at an event with Uncle Ben's Beginners, where she wore her hair down in a poker straight style to show off its blunt, asymmetric length, which falls just a few inches above her shoulders. Kelly also turned heads with her chic ensemble, opting for a sleeveless white top and large, navy blue flared trousers with a multi-coloured print.
However, it appears that Kelly decided to go even shorter with her hair. Celebrity hairstylist Nikki Nelms, the beauty guru behind Kelly's makeover, revealed that initially Kelly had opted for a longer length, but that the next day she decided to chop off even more of her tresses.
Nikki gave her Instagram followers a sneak peek at Kelly's new 'do
As Kelly got ready for a night out, Nikki shared a short video on Instagram of the star, who jokingly startles her friend while filming. ""So last nite @kellyrowland and I decided, over mango margaritas… that we should go a bit shorter on the #bob I cut yesterday…. I love!!!!" she wrote in the accompanying caption. "#KellyRowland #SleekHair @goldnhotelite #FlatIron #HotComb #HauteComb #GoldnHot #HairbyNikkiNelms."
Nikki had given her followers a first glimpse at the former Destiny's Child singer's initial bob, which was already quite a short length, posting a video in which Kelly can be seen slowly turning around to show off the 'do while beaming at the camera.
Kelly has been rocking long wavy hair in recent months
"Oooooh… So I gave @kelllyrowland a new cut today!" she wrote. "A classic, sleek bob! I love this look on her… #KellyRowland #TitansMommy #QuietStorm #SheKruteOrWhateva #Bob #HairByNikkiNelms."
Already a beauty icon to her legions of fans around the world, Kelly recently delighted her social media followers when she revealed she plans to launch a make-up line designed specifically for women with darker skin tones.
"My make-up artist Sheika Daley and I are actually starting a make-up line we're making sure we make," she told Essence. "Well, we're starting off with lashes and then we're going to have it grow for all women. But definitely making sure we have our chocolate girls covered. Gotta get the chocolate girls in there! We have to have that, you know."
