The Shout out to My Ex singer seems to embracing the single life. She recently told the Sunday People: "I'm free, single and loving life. I've found a lot of independence. I think you learn a lot more about yourself when you're single." She added that breaking up with Jake, son of actor Shane Richie and Loose Women's Coleen Nolan, was "one of the worst pains" she's experienced, but insisted that the pair are still friends.

Jesy and Jake got engaged in July 2015, although the pair said they were in "no rush" to exchange vows. Split rumours circulated in November 2016, when Jesy was pictured without her engagement ring. She also unfollowed Rixton singer Jake on Instagram. Speaking shortly after the split, Jesy told Z100: "When you break up with someone, it's awful. Is it not one of the worst pains? It's horrendous and we all need a sad song that you sit and cry to.

"At the end of the day, though, you need something that makes you feel empowered. It makes you think, 'You know what I don't need you anymore. I'm going to go out with my girls and I'm going to get over you because I don't need you.' And that's exactly what Shout Out To My Ex does."
