In order to combat her rising stress levels from her jam-packed itinerary, the star treated herself to a day of detox, and her outfit choice for the occasion was creative to say the least.
The 28-year-old could make anything look good, even a bin bag. The household item was crafted into a dress for the star, who shared her art school aesthetic with fans online. Yet Maya's outfit was not purely for aesthetics, in fact, not at all.
Research suggests that wearing a bin bag while in a sauna as Maya demonstrated helps with water loss. Sweat production helps the body to regulate water temperature, enabling a cooling process that is vital in warmer conditions.
According to LiveStrong.com, wearing a bin bag "short circuits part of your body's cooling process. The trash bag prevents the sweat from evaporating, signalling the body to keep producing sweat in the hopes of lowering your body temperature. In this manner, the trash bag causes weight loss from water loss."
Maya documented the unorthodox process via her Instagram Stories, snapping a selfie in the red-hot sauna. She wrote: "Sauna wrapped in a bin bag for last min detox why not."

The two-piece, sourced from Australian label Christopher Esber, holds a price tag of over £1,000 according to Farfetch.
