The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro really is the Rolls-Royce of smartwatches, I’ve concluded after a week of trialing it. The 1.82-inch AMOLED screen is crisp and vivid at 480 × 408 resolution, making it one of the clearest available worldwide. And with peak brightness of 2,500 nits, it’s perfectly readable even in direct sunlight – ideal for my long runs on sunny Saturdays. So is the route-building and on-wrist navigation features. When out exploring unfamiliar paths or venturing off-road, I could easily stay on track without constantly checking my phone.
On quieter days, the new mini-workout mode guided me through quick, full-body sessions that hit around 10 different areas, with 30 easy-to-follow animated exercises. I found it perfect for squeezing in some movement when I was short on time. What’s more, the fabric orange strap is far more comfortable than the rubber styles typical to smartwatches. I’m usually ripping any wrist accessories off in my sleep, but I didn’t do that with Huawei’s new release. The battery life also held up, comfortably lasting a full week during testing with workouts and sleep tracking, with juice still left on day eight.
The only real downside is environmental rather than day-to-day use: the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro isn’t designed for high-heat or high-humidity settings, so it’s best kept out of hot showers, saunas and steam rooms. My routine does involve those, so it’s something to keep in mind if yours does too.
