Kate Garraway inspired fans with a new child-friendly activity over the weekend as she spent time with her son William, nine, at their north London home. The doting mum, who shares William and daughter Darcey, 12, with husband Derek Draper, was entertaining her little boy by helping him to make a Harry Potter shrine, which she shared a photo of on Instagram. The shrine had been created in a corner of the room, and was complete with a scroll – which William had made himself – a selection of Harry Potter memorabilia, including the books, and a sign which read: "Do not touch! Under the order of the Ministry of Magic."

The Good Morning Britain presenter wrote next to the photo: "Spent last day of #schoolholidays building a #harrypottershrine with 9 yr old. Does anyone else have one ?!! @officialjkrowling . Ps If you don’t recognise the wand at the bottom of the scroll (top left picture) it’s because he made himself from balsa wood!!! his own design. #sundays #specialmoment." Fans were quick to comment about the idea, with one writing: "My daughter would absolutely love to do this," while another said: "Looks amazing. Makes me want one for myself – wrong at nearly 40 surely?" A third added: "My little boy is dressing up as Harry Potter this week for school and he can't wait. I'm going to show him this in the morning. Thank you @kategarraway."

Kate is a doting mum to children Darcey and William

Kate loves spending time with her children when she's not working, and recently posted a very relatable picture of her messy living room after playing a game of Nerf Battles with William. The room was covered in toys, and impressed her followers – who liked seeing a house that was being played in. "Housework can wait, children grow up. I love this," one wrote, while another said: "Parenting done right." Kate also had fun helping her son dress up as her, complete with a blonde with and makeup, and explained after sharing a photo of him that he had been inspired by how she looks on TV after visiting her at the GMB studios.

In the past, Kate has spoken about her desire to have a third child, but later admitted that she is quite content with having two children. In 2014, she told Daily Mail that she would "absolutely love" to extend her family, but added: "To be honest I think it is pure greed wanting a third child in my case – I’ve got a healthy boy and a healthy girl. I came to motherhood quite late and you love it so much you just want to carry on and have more and more, but life is quite full looking after those two." More recently, she told Fabulous magazine that she has "hugely come to terms with not having another baby." She said: "I would hate Darcey and Billy to think that somehow they weren't enough. I'm nearly 50, so there has to be a reality check."
