John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's Beverly Hills mansion, with an estimated price tag of $25 million, is a haven for them and their four children, Luna, Miles, Esti and Wren. It is full of an array of incredible features, and one of which is not only visually impressive but also incredibly meaningful. In the centre of their living space, the family have a two-storey tree that was once a living tree that's now been embalmed.

The focal point was a poignant installation for John and Chrissy as it is there to represent their late son Jack, who sadly died when Chrissy was 20 weeks pregnant in 2020.

The model has called the structure the "tree of life" and in an Instagram Live the couple explained exactly the thought process behind the addition.

"We dedicated this to baby Jack and it's really beautiful," hitmaker John explained. "We were inspired by our friend Kelly Wearstler's house - she has a tree in the middle of it - and we thought it would be cool to have one here.

"It's important for us in Thai tradition that we always embrace the ones we've lost, and they're never, ever gone. This tree being planted inside the home, the whole reason why I wanted it was so Jack's ashes could be in that soil and he could be with us all the time and grow through the beautiful leaves in this tree," added Chrissy.

"The way Miles and Luna talk about him is so beautiful and reminds me of when I was little talking to my grandpa who was just sitting bedside next to my mom in a little urn," she continued. "It's all beautiful, and I love that tradition carries down."

Heartbreaking loss

At the time when the couple announced their devastating news, they penned an Instagram message, that read: "We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before.

We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.

"We never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment after they're born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack.

"So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.

"We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we've been able to experience.

"But every day can't be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."
