Wedding anniversaries are a cause for family celebrations in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's household!
To mark eight years since they exchanged vows at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, on 19 May 2018, Meghan and Harry released a series of previously unseen wedding photos and enjoyed a private party at home with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the former Suits actress not only showed off the gifts she and her husband exchanged, but also the handmade ones from their kids. While showing off their lemon and elderflower cake, which was the same flavour Claire Ptak of East London bakery Violet created for their wedding cake, the couple shared a kiss in the kitchen.
On the counter sat a brown envelope with the words 'Mama & Papa' written on the front, next to two sentimental pieces of pottery. One was made of blue, black and white swirled colours in the shape of a bowl, while the other was a red and pink-coloured rose.
Harry's gift
After Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet showed off their sweet voices singing "happy anniversary to mama" to the tune of 'Happy Birthday', Meghan shared a clip of herself unveiling a bronze sculpture of two penguins arm in arm from Harry.
She explained the meaning behind them to her kids. "When mama and papa, when we got engaged, we had a party with all of our friends, and we said everyone should wear an animal onesie, and we were penguins because they mate for life," Meghan said, before opening a throwback photo of the happy couple in the penguin costumes.
Royal wedding
The couple got married on 19 May 2018 in front of a 600-strong guest list, including Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams. Meghan walked down the aisle in a Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy wedding dress, which she paired with the Queen Mary Bandeau tiara loaned to her by the late Queen Elizabeth, and a 16-foot veil.
The Duchess changed into a backless Stella McCartney gown for the evening reception at Frogmore House.
Meghan previously clarified what happened during a disagreement with the Princess of Wales regarding Princess Charlotte's flower girl outfit.
During her interview with Oprah, she insisted it "wasn’t a confrontation," but said Kate had apologised for something she had said.
"What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me," she said.
"And the people who were part of our wedding were going to our comms team and saying, 'I know this didn’t happen. I don’t have to tell them what actually happened.'"
