Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the decision to step down as senior royals in 2020, but now it seems there could be hope of a royal family reconciliation to pave the way for them to have a future of sorts within the royal fold. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are due to travel to the UK next month for Invictus Game commitments, and now we have details of some of their engagements, we can reveal where Meghan Markle will be heading for her first UK engagement in six years…
The Duke and Duchess are both set to attend meetings related to Invictus at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners and their distinctive red uniform.
Prince Harry will also visit Birmingham Children’s Hospital to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its "WellChild Nurse", a role created to support children with complex medical conditions and their families.
During their trip Down Under in April, the duo took time to visit the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne, where they greeted staff and patients. Crowds turned out in their droves to see the royal pair and were delighted that they made the effort to stop by.
Will Prince Harry bring his children to the UK?
Initially, it was believed that this UK jaunt would be a whole family affair, with Prince Harry and Meghan bringing their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but now that plan appears to hang in the balance. This decision centres around the issue of security as no satisfactory security has yet been set out to assure the Prince that it is safe to bring his children across the pond. He has been very vocal in the past about his security concerns.
The Telegraph reported that while Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet might not join their father for the whole trip, they could be flown in and out of the United Kingdom in a single day. Their visit would likely see them reunite with their grandfather, King Charles. It was also reported that Harry was hoping to take his children to visit their late grandmother, Princess Diana's gravesite, and this element of the itinerary would be totally possible considering that Althorp, where she is laid to rest, is conveniently closed for two days around that time.
At present, the Sussexes are believed to be holidaying in Europe, meaning a day in and out for the children is more possible than a transatlantic flight from home in the US.
